Bio Sketch

Olivier Schopfer lives in Geneva, Switzerland. He likes to capture the moment in haiku and photography. His work has appeared in The Red Moon Anthology of English-Language Haiku 2014 & 2016, as well as in numerous online and print journals such as Acorn, bottle rockets, Chrysanthemum, Frogpond, Mayfly, Modern Haiku and Presence. Scars Publications has released his first poetry chapbook, In the Mirror: Concrete Haiku, available as free PDF file and a paper version .

  1. L1 sets the theme while symbolically rich L3, (the sun/son comes out)empowered by word play, makes the poem visually and emotionally effective.

    Note: "Coming out, is a metaphor for LGBT people's self-disclosure of their sexual orientation or of their gender identity."

  3. Rarely with haiku do I feel like describing any as 'perfect' but I would say that here - I can't see how Olivier Schopfer's effort could be bettered, for what it is trying to achieve. Fantastic.
