  1. L1 sets the scene while Ls 2&3 portray an intimate relationship; on the second reading, I think L1 carries symbolic and emotive significance, enhancing the relationship portrayed in L2&3.

    This is a good example of "what's left unsaid is more important than what's said."

    This haiku reminds me of the following common saying:

    The miracle of friendship can be spoken without words... hearing unspoken needs, recognizing secret dreams, understanding the silent things that only true friend know.
