Bio Sketch
Jan Dobb lives in Canberra,
Australia. She has published three family history narratives and her
short stories have had success in publications and competitions. Since
2010, however, Jan has been captivated by the magic of haiku.
This visually riveting haiku reads more like the poetic rendering of an extreme long shot (functioning as an establishing shot) in a prairie film. And combined with the opening image that has a wabi-sabi-like quality, Jan's verb choice, "unzip," lifts the poem up a notch, adding emotional weight to the poem.
