Bio Sketch
Joanne Morcom is a poet and social worker living in Calgary, Alberta. She recently published her third poetry collection, Last Year's Leaves. She's also a contributor to various haiku and tanka journals and anthologies.
Within such a short space of 5 lines and 17 words, the Heideggerian theme of "Being in the world" is skillfully explored through the emotionally resonant juxtaposition of the cyclical nature image (Ls 1&2) and the speaker's reflective statement on life and death (Ls 4&5).
