Bio Sketch

Bruce Ross, Ph.D., former president of the HSA, is the editor of anthologies such as the seminal Haiku Moment and, more recently, co-editor of A Vast Sky. He has authored many collections of haiku and haibun. He is currently editor of the online Autumn Moon Haiku Journal.

L1 sets the theme/scene and mood while unexpected yet humorously interesting L3 enhances the "hai" aspect of this shasei haiku about the classical Japanese Zen/rock garden(枯山水, karesansui)where a stone Buddha (not the Potbellied/Laughing Buddha that is believed to bring "good luck, contentment and abundance in one's life ...") sits at a far corner.
