Bio Sketch
Ruth Powell lives in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, where she is a family physician now working in oncology at a local cancer clinic after many years in private practice. When not working, she writes poetry and finds her resilience and peace in nature, kayaking, hiking and cross-country skiing.
The simplicity of wording and multi-sensory and evocative imagery effectively conveys an inviting sense of eco-awareness (starlit sky and only the sound of paddling) and wonder (alone under the starlit sky) at once.
ReplyDeleteThe following poem could be read as a sequel to Ruth's fine haiku:
DeleteI rest my paddle
let the canoe drift awhile
rocks trees sky
the lake and I
are an empty mirror
