  1. Within such an extremely short space of 4 words and 7 syllables, this timely and sociopoliticaly conscious minimalist haiku keenly depicts the large scale of movement by child refugees (holding "teddy bears") crossing one border after another (crossing borders)


    Roberta's heart-wrenching "tebby bears haiku," where synecdoche is visually and emotionally effectively employed, reminds me of one of my haiku written for/about Syrian refugees:

    the sound
    of crashing waves ...
    a teddy bear
