Bio Sketch
Marion Clarke is from the east coast of Northern Ireland. Growing up surrounded by the scenic shores of Carlingford Lough, the Mourne Mountains and Kilbroney Forest Park, she was destined to write haiku.
L 1, "frolicking fox cub," immediately establishes a sense of charm and dynamic movement. Ls 2&3 build on this by offering a deeply evocative visual and emotional landscape. By ending with "with morning"—rather than the more conventional "dew" or "sunlight"—the poet invites readers to complete the image themselves, giving the haiku a beautiful, gentle openness.
