Bio Sketch

Munira Judith Avinger was born in the US and moved to the Eastern Townships of Quebec in 1993 where she built a little cabin in the forest. She has published five books, the latest of which is a memoir called The Cabin.

  1. There is a simile effectively established between the two parts of the poem, and the allusive third line adds emotional weight and philosophical depth to the poem

    Now I'm just wonderin' how we know where we belong
    Is it in a photograph or a dashboard poet's song?
    Will I have missed my chance to right some ancient wrong
    Should I find myself between here and gone?
