Bio Sketch
Ken Sawitri completed her degree in psychology at the Universitas Indonesia in 1993. Her haiku won the Second Prize in the 2013 Diogen Summer Haiku Contest. Recently, her collaborative photo haiku awarded as Haiku Master of the Week #4 January 2018 in NHK World TV program. She dedicated her haiku to her motherland in Listen The Spice Whispers, Haiku from Indonesian Archipelago and recorded her journey in haiku .
L1 sets the scene while the implied contrast of life between a "satellite dish" (most advanced and metropolitan) and fishing gears (traditional)in Ls 2&3 is thought-provoking. And on second reading, L1 could be read as an authorial comment on the technological presence in the lifeworld of fishermen.
