Modeled on traditional Japanese tanka, Barun's heartfelt and relatable poem is made up of five poetic phrases and structured into two parts (“jo,” the prefatory image, and the main statement). And the symbolically rich prefatory image of "window grilles" (culturally/socially prescribed rules/customs) and the "harvest moon" (the world outside) gives the reader a clue on why "we decide/to escape this small town."
