sometimes
a shimmer on the stair
a trace of your scent
lingers in my memory
and fills the air I breathe

一絲你的氣味

Magenta lives in England, UK. Her haiku, and tanka have appeared in a
number of journals, and anthologies. She was awarded Honourable Mentions
for her haiku in The Fifth Annual Peggy Willis Lyles Haiku Awards,
2017, and in the 71st Basho Memorial English Haiku Contest, 2017, and

In Simon's heartfelt tanka, a sense of longing is effectively conveyed through multi-sensory embodied images of a shimmer, trace of scent," lingering memory, and the air... And on second reading, the opening line, "sometimes," successfully adds emotional weight and psychological depth to the tanka.
