FYI: Hanukkah, an eight-day winter festival of lights, is celebrated with the lighting of the menorah, traditional foods, games and gifts. This Jewish festival celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and of spirituality over materiality.

Here are five of my favourite quotes for Hanukkah:
ReplyDelete“The proper response, as Hanukkah teaches, is not to curse the darkness but to light a candle.” —Rabbi Irving Greenberg
“A candle is a small thing. But one candle can light another. And see how its own light increases, as a candle gives its flame to the other. You are such a light.” —Moshe Davis
“Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.” —Anne Frank
“There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.” —Leonard Cohen
“The darkness of the whole world cannot swallow the glowing of a candle.” —Robert Altinger
