Bio Sketch
Anne Curran lives in Hamilton, New Zealand. She has been writing Japanese short verse forms for about eleven years. She is grateful for the inspiration provided by editors, fellow poets and friends. Like a good wine she hopes only to improve her writing with age.
Enhanced by the rhetorical and literary technique of hyperbole, the simile employed in Ls 1-3 sets the theme and tone, while the "last" in emotionally charged and symbolically rich Ls 4&5 adds psychological depth to this immigration tanka.
