  1. An effective/fun play on words: full-bodied/heavy rain (L1) and full-bodied/rich and many different flavors in wine, which is implied from Ls 2&3, the (top/best) wine tasting draws "gradually to a close" in heavy rain.

FYI: "Full-bodied is a wine tasting term that references the heaviness of a wine that feels thick and viscous in the mouth. The tasting term refers to how the wine feels in your mouth rather than taste like other terms. Several factors play into whether a wine has a fuller body."
