Cool Announcement: A Hundred Gourds' Issues Available at THF

My Dear Friends:

Now, all issues of A Hundred Gourds, which were rendered in PDF form, are available at The Haiku Foundation.  There are excellent haiku, senryu and tanka by many well-known poets, some of who have passed away, but are not forgotten.

Selected Poems

the trill
of insects ... a sound
for every star

Peter Newton

light snow
our footprints
in the wind

Bill Kenney

rising
with the light
lilac breeze

Ann K. Schwader

one night
alone in the cold, fast river
of an adult dream
I struggle to reach the shore
with only grief to hold onto

Susan Constable

ephemera
even as it is spoken
the word fades...
for you, the symmetry
for me, the wings

Claire Everett

"One world at a time,"
Thoreau said
just before he died;
in the moonlight
I draw you close to me

Marian Olson

by moonlight
through the screen window
my lover climbs
in the darkness
between the sheets

Hortensia Anderson

leaves spinning to the ground
the PM denies
climate change

LeRoy Gorman

The white cat a shadow of night

Jack Galmitz

belly dancer
the glitter of gold
in her navel

Susan Constable

I stretch my wings
and glide into a white
expanse of silence
this ache of tears unburdened
by a gull's cry

Claire Everett

the zigzag path
of indecision . . .
squirrel tracks
across light snow
leading nowhere

Kirsty Karkow

at game time
my son can't find his glove ...
the smell of dust
as I search for something
to say to my ex-wife

Ken Slaughter

Something about him
opens the doors of my ears
and I listen –
beyond his laughter and wit
a man who weeps

Marian Olson

gathering speed
with each crest and curve
on this unknown road
who let cancer
behind the wheel?

David Terelinck

smudged ink
on his postcard
not tears
but rain falling
in the miles between us

Sheila Sondik

                                           to be continued ...
